Admiralty and maritime law covers the business and commercial (but not recreational) use of coastal and navigable waters, including the great lakes, rivers, bays, harbours, and ports. Legal issues include maritime jurisdiction, maritime or shipping contracts, maritime liens, rights to shipping lanes, liability of ship owners, shipmasters, and maritime workers, harbour or port access and operations, seaman rights, salvage rights, and ship or boat accidents, including property damage, personal injury and death.
