Practical Vocational Training (Articles)

At C&A Friedlander, we are committed to developing talented future attorneys through a structured and supportive Practical Vocational Training Programme. Our Candidate Attorneys are exposed to a wide range of practice areas, gain hands-on experience, and work closely with our professionals from day one. We look for individuals who are motivated, responsible, and passionate about building a career in the legal profession.

What to Expect:

  • Practical experience in the operation of an established, full-service law firm
  • Guidance and mentorship from experienced legal practitioners in various fields
  • Integration into a welcoming and supportive work environment where professional growth is encouraged
  • Study leave, support for LEAD classes, and payment of board exam fees
  • Opportunities to attend additional training sessions, seminars, and workshops

Vacation Work Programme

Our Vacation Work Programme offers students an introduction to the legal profession and an opportunity to experience the working environment at C&A Friedlander Attorneys. The programme is structured, interactive, and designed to help students understand the practical aspects of legal work and the values that guide our firm.

What to Expect:

  • Insight into the work done by candidate legal practitioners, including court visits, legal research and drafting
  • Presentations and discussion forums with different legal departments within C&A Friedlander Attorneys
  • A mock trial at the end of the programme

How to Apply:

  • The July Vacation Work Programme will take place from 13 to 16 July 2026.
  • Applications for the July intake are currently open and will close on 1 June 2026.
  • Successful applicants will be notified at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the programme.
  • Applications may be submitted via emailed to graduates@caf.co.za
